Due to the continued success, and recent pipeline of new projects my client is expanding now and seeking to fill two more exciting positions open for Data Analysts to join them in the next phase of their growth.

We are seeking enthusiastic, intelligent people who like a challenge, enjoy analysing data, have good attention to detail, and would like to further their career in a Data focused career. The role is hybrid. The office is on the outskirts of Preston / Chorley.

The key Responsibilities of the Data Analyst will be:

Working as part of the IT team to produce SSRS reports which will be integrated into our F0CUS work management platform

Support the business to provide ad hoc analysis to our contract teams

Looking for better and more efficient ways to work

Support the training department by maintaining the Moodle course database

Identify the causes of issues with our in-house developed applications and write SQL scripts to remedy the problems

Create forms for use with our mobile app using our in-house form builder

Provide Excel support to the business, possibly using complex formulae

 

The competencies required of the Data Analyst will be:

We are looking for a data analyst who isn’t afraid to get stuck in and to have autonomy in their decision-making process. Attention to detail is essential, as is an analyst who can ‘see’ the solution and will work to make that a possibility. We are a hybrid workforce, with 1-2 days in the office (following probation) so the ability to work both remotely and as part of a team is key. You must be passionate about the role and be willing to embrace the opportunity to grow the role and the product with you. Experience isn’t as necessary as a desire to work and a keen eye for detail.

As an SME we are very much a ‘can-do’ workforce and the ability to take on any challenge, even with no prior knowledge is essential – you could be working on a new feature for our code base one week, and creating virtual machines and networking in Microsoft Azure the next week – learning new skills across the entire IT landscape is part and parcel of the role and you will be given the freedom to do this.

Technical Requirements and Stack

  • Microsoft Excel – formulas & VBA
  • SQL Service Reporting Services (SSRS reports) using Git for source control
  • Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
  • Power BI
  • Visual Studio

Overview of the Product

The product, F0CUS is a bespoke work management platform. Built from the ground up to service utilities work the system is scalable and configurable, with particular emphasis placed on ensuring streamlined processes, efficient dataflow, and above all, one version of the Truth.

 

We have placed a great deal of emphasis when building F0CUS on making sure that the system scales and that functionality is configurable and extendable – this means that it can be adapted to suit any contract configuration and any combination of workstreams and processes.

 

In addition, F0CUS has been designed and developed by a team with over 60 years of combined experience in the utilities industry. Our development team is invested in understanding the order life-cycle processes inclusive of inception, planning, operations, and commercial – meaning that the initial vision for new functionality is delivered as intended, and when our development team is engaged by our users, they understand their problems and the terminology used – meaning that your users can explain their requirements as they understand them, without fear of anything being lost in translation.

In addition, the streamlining that will be gained through using the F0CUS platform will be an essential part of our clients’ requirements to maintain social distancing as we move into the ‘New Normal’. Our document management and imagery functionality ensure that all staff can be kept up to date and provide real-time updates without manual or paper Job Packs. There is no requirement for teams to report inside to collect work, and all data transfer is digital.

The system also provides real-time updates for key stakeholders, be they a customer wanting to know that an engineer is on their way, or a Health and Safety manager needing to be informed the moment a hazard is reported; F0CUS’s communication engine handles this ensuring that everyone is up to date. In addition, the reporting engine provides automated reporting and dashboards – again ensuring that everyone has the latest information, and everyone is working on one version of the truth.
